I have just written a field formatter (called file_download) enabling file downloads and request to become owner or maintainer of this module so that I can make the code available to others.

Having received no correspondence from the module maintainers, ownership was transferred thanks to a request to the Drupal project ownership queue

@New Zeal The plan for this module is to transfer the file_download formatter from the File Entity module to this one and merge in https://www.drupal.org/project/file_download_count. Also the procedure from https://www.drupal.org/node/251466 of "Wait two weeks to give the maintainers time to respond." was only one week. I would have loved to review your code (which you did not provide in your original issue) to be able to confirm the direction we had planned as the media team.

I have been posting on the Group page since 10 November and I contacted Gabor directly using his contact form, which I believe constitutes a sufficient 2 week warning, especially given that Gabor has posted twice since my original post. The media group does not have a contact form enabled in the Drupal profile, and I was alerted a week ago to the suggestion of using this issue queue as well. Bear in mind that the namespace has been held for much of a year and no code has been submitted the decision to transfer it would have been easy for the Drupal staff.

The file download formatter is a simple task that only took a few hours after cloning parts of a core module and there are people wanting it published. I apologise if I didn't track you down before having the module transferred over but I felt that we should keep the community moving forward. You are welcome to review the code.

Sorry, I do not subscribe to any emails except for the issue queue, which on https://www.drupal.org/node/251466 is the first thing that should be done, especially when intending to file a request to transfer. I have a Drupal 7 version of this module ready to go, do you mind if I submit that branch, we can review it for what is missing from the D8 version and go from there?

Yes, do submit your code. I haven't changed any of the maintainers.
