Where is dataset stored?

It's not clear from the project description whether (a) only metadata is fetched from CKAN and the dataset is fetched on demand (caching?), or (b) metadata and dataset date are fetched from CKAN. If the latter, where is dataset data stored in Drupal?

How can CKAN data be refreshed into Drupal if it changes upstream?
