I've been researching this for a couple days now. A fresh install of 7.52 shows all core image links broken. Uploaded images and new them logo's display fine. I've checked file permissions, base url in settings, file path in file system. The path looks good but when I paste it into a browser the image does not show.
I appreciate any help!

you state you checked file permissions you don't state that you've checked folder permissions from the files folder down to the folder where image styles are stored.
is you file system public or private?
Are you getting an information from your drupal error logs?
thanks
all folders are 705, public, I just turned on system log...not showing any errors

705 is an odd setting. Certainly not the default. public file system needs at least 755 and may need 777 depending on your environment.
don't know too much about
don't know too much about permissions, but looking at my other sites, all folders are 705 or 604.

I've never seen those folder level permissions used
none of the sites I work on (production or local) utilized those folder permissions.
ok...figured it out. Thanks
ok...figured it out. Thanks for your time. When I ftp'ed the files to my server, I had the transfer type set at ASCII, reset to auto...images display. Not sure why, but glad it works! Thanks again!
