Although the flag module is not complete, it's only one issue away from an alpha version.
I need a flag count for my current project, so I have written the attached patch that works with the current Flag module.
This uses tokens to replace the link with the count so it appears like: "Like (12)"/"Unlike (12)"
It's greatly simplified from the 7.x-1.x version but is a working start.
The attached patch is based off the current 8.x-1.x branch. Please review and if you're happy with that, please give me permission to commit and we can start building a complete D8 version?
Otherwise, please advise if my approach is too different and I'll create a separate project.
