Can someone confirm that Sarnia does not in fact work with Facets?
If not what the alternative?
If yes then how?

Sarnia works perfectly fine with facets. There are public sites that use both Sarnia and facets. Please be sure that you are using the latest versions of Sarnia, Search API, and Search API Solr.

Closing, though I'll reopen if you can give more details about your specific problem.

Search API does not pick up the fields from SOLR that i need to facet upon.
Using:
Drupal 7.5
Search API 7.x 1.20
Sarnia 7.x 1.3
Facet API 7.x 1.5
Views 7.x 3.14
Chaos Tools 7.x 1.9

I have implemented a custom theme with css, page.tpl.php, and images.

The sarnia view works great but now i need to facet on two solr fields.

Search API does not show the solr fields as "facetable"

We are not indexing any Drupal content into SOLR at this time and do not need to facet on any Drupal data.

Anything else you need to know please ask.
