In my daily work, I was asked to apply the patch workbench_moderation-pathauto.patch submitted through the #2616854: Pathauto 1.3 - URL Alias state checkbox with the status "Close (fixed)"

As I reported ion a comment of this ticket, I get a "Page not found" error with it.

During my investigations for fixing this specific issue and proposing a patch, I found this other issue: #2308095: URL alias reverts to Automatic generate alias when published that has also the status "Close (fixed)".

After some tests and trying understand the implementation, I have the impression that the 2 patches try to fix the same problem but with different approaches.

So my first question is: "Is my impression correct?"

If yes, my second question is: The state of one of this ticket should not be "Close (won't fix)" and linked to the other issue? If yes, I think that should be the #2616854: Pathauto 1.3 - URL Alias state checkbox.

I am also running into this issue, and would like to know the most likely path forward. I may be available for more testing, if I am not able to find a solution for the system I am working on, or at least report back on my own findings.
