Hi folks,
can anyone suggest me a module or a way to permit different permissions for different parts of a node (possibly without programming code)?

I use the book structure for sorts of user manuals for different customers. Instead of copying book pages for each customer and give them them the needed visibility by means of taxonomy, so each customer sees only his one page, I would rather like to maintain a single book page for every argument with a section for all customers and possible sections for each customer plus a section for internal notes for users of our own company.
I already tried panel pages to find out they cannot be part of a book (no NID, only URL) and are more complex to generate.
Thanks!

multiple fields and the fields permissions module

Though if this is sensitive information, I'd likely stick with separate nodes. Reason being, if for any reason something breaks in fields permission then the entirety of the node would be exposed. Probably rare but worth thinking about.

thanks. I installed the module and started to look at it.
Wouldn't it mean though, that an administrator has to provide, a priori, a special book page (or edit the standard one) with a body field, one for each existing customer (not allowing to add multiple one) with its fixed permission for the role of that customer and of our personel?

Your solution seems great to allow customers to add their custom text to our book pages, but it would be even more great if each author could decide, when he adds another body (number of field values set to unlimited) to the book page, which role can view it. Or add a taxonomy that cares for the permission. Is that possible?
