I am officially offering to maintain this module under Drupal 8. A well-supported, drop-in replacement exists which can be viewed most easily in this sandbox or in the patch to the D8 alpha version in this issue which also consolidates patches submitted for hitherto reported bugs and indicates successful testing by the community.

At the suggestion of the official guidelines on this page I'm also contacting the most recent committer on the D8 branch @vaibhavjain (via private message on Twitter) to call attention to this issue, asking for a response within 2 weeks.
