The core variable 404_fast_paths_exclude is not handled. If fast_404 is a drop-in replacement for core, then it should be handled. I think that this was just an oversite, as #2360263: how to set it up? does it need to be set up? says that all $conf variables are supported.

Updated patch handles styles directory as before, as long as 404_fast_paths_exclude includes styles (which I think it always will) or 404_fast_paths_exclude doesn't exist.
