Adding the same plugin to all mappings at once

I'm wondering if there's a simple way (UI based or programmatic) to create one plugin configuration for all mappings of an importer at the same time. I have an importer with many mappings, and it would take very long to do by hand. I can probably do it decently with some custom code that gets all the mappings and programmatically submits the 'add plugin' form a bunch of times. But I thought I'd check first if there's a better way to do this, or whether this would be a desirable feature to add to the UI.

The plugin configuration would of course have to be the same for all the mappings.
