How about the idea of adding some jQuery plugin?
List of plugins:

This will give nice features:

  • trim by number of lines
  • responsibility when block resizing
  • show full text by tooltips, collapse, etc
  • saving the sense of the text for search bots

While that is a fine idea, it's out of the scope of this PHP project.
