OK, the other day I was moving data from one site to another. Site A is the origin and site B the destination

The node type being exported/imported contains:

  1. title
  2. platform: taxonomy reference, rendered as a drop-down
  3. field collection

The field collection contains:
1. publish date
2. category: term reference
3. status: text select list, returned as a set of radio buttons

all other fields render correctly on site B. except the taxonomy reference drop downs, which pick the first term from the list. I considered changing the taxonomy ids on site B to match those in site A, but am not sure if this is the best option, besides I don't know how.
