Is there a community and/or handy person [paid or otherwise] that I can join/hire-by-hour to help with errors, glitches, and all the messes Drupal creates? This doesn't really seem the place for "my site has started glitching...help" questions.

Erm, that's a bit of an add statement considering hundreds of those questions per day are answered on drupal.org including some of your own over the past 3 years per https://www.drupal.org/user/2625643/track

However you can always post in the drupal.org paid services forum.

yes, but I have also gotten back lash from the community for error questions. Last time I asked an error question I was labeled a Help Vampire.

Asking for help with a feature is one thing. example: I am installing xyz module and xyz is going wrong, any suggestions? The community is great with those.

My site was working yesterday, but it isn't today. The community isn't so great with. Its not the community's fault, there are 1001 things that could have caused Drupal to stop working as it should, and everyone's site is a little (often a lot) different, so there aren't any canned answers.

I hadn't been on the Drupal Paid Services page, so thank you for pointing it out. It doesn't seem to be what I need though. I'm looking for help fixing the Drupal equivalent of a clogged pipe, I don't want the pipes replaced.

If you think that this is the place to get that help, then here is my problem:

My site works, but it is glitching all over the place. I am not sure what is causing the errors. If anyone recognizes the below errors, or has some ideas on how to go about trouble shooting them I would greatly appreciate the help.

Errors
-Warning: require(/leaky-pen/sites/all/libraries/google-api-php-client/vendor/guzzlehttp/psr7/src/functions_include.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in composerRequirefc02eefcd0b3a98a972fca50098c4775() (line 66 of /leaky-pen/sites/all/libraries/google-api-php-client/vendor/composer/autoload_real.php)

White screen of death
-The Configuration page is a WSOD
-Reports -> status report is a WSOD

Minor display errors
-All content displaying along left hand side of page, whether it is supposed to or not.
-Content is appearing in double.

More info
-It all started after I tried to update core, failed, and reverted the website to a version from earlier that same morning.
-the website: www.coralvillepubliclibrary.org/leaky-pen

I had a similar issue to this before:
-Warning: require(/leaky-pen/sites/all/libraries/google-api-php-client/vendor/guzzlehttp/psr7/src/functions_include.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in composerRequirefc02eefcd0b3a98a972fca50098c4775() (line 66 of /leaky-pen/sites/all/libraries/google-api-php-client/vendor/composer/autoload_real.php)

It was because I was using a version of Drush that was too new for the module that needed it. I was using Drush 7 but needed Drush 6. Might that be your issue?

WSOD
This is often caused by not having enough PHP memory available on your server. See this page for possible solutions: https://www.drupal.org/node/158043

All content on the left side - I can't load your website at the moment, keep getting a 500 error. I've seen an issue like this before a few times, usually when someone copy/pasted some text from Microsoft Word and that put in a load of junk HTML. See if you can locate it and then remove it.

Content is appearing in double - no idea. Might be related to the junk HTML.

Hope that helps you a bit.

I got your site to load. You have a spelling mistake in your web address. Your content is on the right as no CSS is loading.

I think you might need to clear your cache.

Thank you Mark!!! Do you happen to know how to clear the cache when the Configuration page is unavailable? That was my initial instinct as well, but all my usual routs to clearing the cache are blocked by the WSOD.

Drush?

Do you have drush? You could use that. Or maybe navigate to yoursite.com/update.php and see if running update.php clears it.

The short answer to Drush is: no I don't have it. The long answer is: it is installed I've just never been able to get it to work.

There are no updates to install, so no to update.php.

I do have Putty (which Drush is theoretically installed on) with Composer installed. There is a distinct chance the error is coming from Composer (it is part of the URL that is producing the error) but I haven't touched the program since I created the site and it is something I installed because the directions in one of my modules told me to.

"yes, but I have also gotten back lash from the community for error questions. Last time I asked an error question I was labeled a Help Vampire."

i went back over your user tracker and what you state above hasn't happened in at least four months (i stopped after that as you statement made it sound like it happened recently). In fact you've received some pretty solid help from the community over your time here.

spitcher’s picture

I am not saying I haven't had solid help from the community. I am saying there are some things it is hard for the community to trouble shoot (at no fault to the community). The incident I mentioned actually happened more than a year ago, but it was a lesson learned. I am very careful about what I ask here. Since then I haven't had any negative experiences.

The problem is my website is experiencing glitches which I have no idea how to trouble shoot, and can only guess at the cause. This is the type of question I have learned not to ask (though from your responses, perhaps it is something I should ask). I was hoping someone would know of a community or service that I could use to trouble shoot the site and give me some suggestions on what to do next.

I apologize for sounding ungrateful for all the help I have received from the community. When I created my first Drupal site over two years ago I had no clue what I was doing and this community was a major help in getting past the initial Drupal learning cliff.

Given that everyone here is giving their time free, you might be better served by ensuring that you are not a help vampire.

To do so, every time someone answers one of your questions, why not seek out a question from some one else that you can answer. The principle is called "paying it forward" - someone helps you, you help someone.

Good advice.

I have done my best to post complete answers to any questions I have asked and solved here, so if someone else is having a similar problem, and stumbles across my post, they know what solved it.

VM’s picture

which is not the same as what was asked of you. If you use up more of the community resources than you provide then ....

said another way if you can't take the time to answer other peoples questions when they are asked, why should any one answer yours?

Those who support the project via the forums tend to look at user trackers. Doing so paints a picture of whether someone is actually part of the community beyond logging in or simply using the community as a means to their own end.

The paid services forum is a forum where you can hire others to perform the tasks you need performed. Not sure why you ruled it out earlier but beyond the paid services forum, I suggest google for seeking out other places to ask drupal related questions. There aren't many. I know drupal answers over on stackexchange is available but the question you posed here would have been closed over there.

spitcher’s picture

This is why I did not want to post the above question!!!!! I knew it would be resource heavy and I would be more than willing to pay someone to help me trouble shoot it, but I don't know of any resources to contact for this. I looked at the Paid Services section and saw services to create sites or manage sites. Perhaps I didn't dig enough.

When I started using the community I did try and help where I could (if you haven't noticed I have limited expertise in Drupal so what I can answer is next to nothing). Even things I have struggled through I don't remember the answer to the next month, so I can't answer what I did to solve it. Which is why I try and give a complete answer to something in the moment when it is fresh in my mind. Honestly I do everything I can to solve my Drupal problems without coming here because of the communities tendency to shame people. I'm a burden to your community, fine tell me where I can go get the help I need without being a burden to you.
