Is there an option for users to register/make reservations for events? This does not need to be tied to a payment system. A client wants to display calendar events and make reservations for these an option for users because they do not operate a restaurant around the clock.

This is one of the most amazing modules I've seen. Thank you for your contribution.

We don't have a built-in solution for event registration. But there are some contrib modules you can use: https://www.drupal.org/project/registration.
