when I for some other purpose put the jquery-1.4.2.min file into the theme, the default front page slider will just not work. And if I remove the jquery file, everything gets back to normal. But I do need the jquery file to make things going. Wonder how to fix this. Many thanks!

Hi,

Do you need jQuery 1.4 on front page too? If no then you can include it on the pages where you actually need by checking the page path.

Theme uses default jQuery bundled with Drupal core i.e v1.4.4
/misc/jquery.js

Are you using jQuery update module to integrate jquery 1.4.2???

#2 did the trick. Thanks for your suggestion. Earlier I just include the file in the theme info file. Now I just include it on the page tpl.php files.

#3. yes, I use the module. But it seems the integration can't fix the problem. Thanks anyway!
