Components >> BREADCRUMBS settings do nothing

I've got a bootstrap subtheme, and I want to adjust my breadcrumb configurations under Appearance >> Settings >> MYTHEME >> Components >> BREADCRUMBS.

Currently breadcrumbs are showing and I am using the default breadcrumb settings. I change "Breadcrumb visibility" to "Only in admin areas", then save, then refresh cache for good measure. However, the breadcrumb still displays on non-admin pages. So, I try setting "Breadcrumb visibility" to "hidden", save, flush cache. Alas, the breadcrumb still shows on all pages.
