If you enable the module befor e downloading the geshi librarie from github there is an error message remaining on the status report page of drupal until you deactivate geshi filter and reactivae teh module, again

In this case, you have to go to config page for geshi(admin/config/content/formats/geshifilter) and click on the button "Flush the geshi language definition cache" because there is a cache for this.
