"publish the most recent pending revision" sets Token [current-page:url:absolute] (used in canonical tag) incorrectly to revision URL

After using Workflow Rules to execute a "publish the most recent pending revision", this token [current-page:url:absolute] gets incorrectly set from:

https://www.example.com/page-name

to

https://www.example.com/node/475756/revisions/486246/view

This breaks SEO and prevents Google from indexing the page correctly as this token is used by MetaTag for the canonical tag.
