First of all a woul like to thanks you a lot for this module you create . Because customization was very hard with View org chat, Char google tools etc.

However i would like to know :

- When you say it has it's own JavaScript , does it mean even without an internet connection the organigram will display ? (if yes it will be very very very nice)

- Does the module work the same way of other organigram modules View org chat, Char google tools ?:i mean automatically know relationship between entities and display them as organigram : entityrefenrence , taxonomy hierararchy, book module (parent and child) etc .. (if yes it will be very very very nice tooo)

One more time thanks for this module

Hi delacosta456! The javascript library (orgchart.js) is an independent, standalone (and offline) script written by Jan van Loenen. You can find the original version here. I've rewritten and improved it to match the drupal standards.

The workflow is different than all existing modules. I've created custom entities which can be found under Structure > Organigrams. There, you can create your organigrams with children very similar to taxonomy terms. Once you create an organigram, it will be available on a dedicated page, as block or you can place it in between your content if your text format supports tokens.

Please let me know if you run into anything or have any more questions!

hi PatrickScheffer
Thanks for your reply.
I ill give a a try to explore the exact possibility.
But just to know:

as you said in description that "These items contain a static set of fields and are not fieldable" does it mean that entity reference will not work with it ?

The scenario i have in mind is :

- Like taxonomy and book, use organigram to categorize content.
For example i a have a department or organization organigram , any created content of content type Person can be attached to it via entity reference.

And a president box in the organigram will display the name of that person

Can this work?

PatrickScheffer’s picture

I'm afraid your scenario will not work. At the moment, organigrams can not be related to other content. It might be a nice feature, but I'm not sure if this will add anything to my module since the views org chart module already does that.

Hi PatrickScheffer

Thanks truly View org Chart does it but :

- It's depend on Google's api which can not be stored on local and google didn't allows that . What is not suitable when building an intranet doesn't necessary connect to internet

- With View org Chart and other similar it is the same situation and a lot off people , since 2010 have requesting for possibility to store api on local, what google do not want to allow.

May be you can hep us integrate your javascript library to View org chart module thanks

PatrickScheffer’s picture

That's exactly the reason why I refused to use Google's API. I don't want them to collect data from my websites.

It would be great if View org Chart would use my library. However, a great part of the View org Chart module will need to be rewritten to accomplish this.

I'm glad I came this far with my own module with the spare time I have and I think it still needs some improvements. In other words, I'm perfectly willing to support an integration with View org Chart, but at the moment I am unable to do more than that.

What do the guys behind View org Chart say about your request?

hi PatrickScheffer
Thanks for your reply

i wrote to both View org Chart guys(check here) and Google Chart Tools guys check here guys about this with mentioning our discussion. But none of the haven't reply .

Is there a fast way to contact them?

PatrickScheffer’s picture

I'm not that of an insider to know shortcuts, I'm sorry. You've created a valid feature request, that's all you can do really (besided building it yourself ;)).

hi PatrickScheffer
Thanks for your assistance. i will let you know in case of new update t the other side.
By the please let me no to in case of improvement .

hi PatrickScheffer

Asghar , the developer of View org chart replied in this post that he will see how to integrate the offline library to his module.
I suggest him , if possible , to work together with you or that.

Thanks

Alright, I'll keep an eye on my mailbox.

hi PatrickScheffer

Ok thanks

hi hi PatrickScheffer
i am coming back to you because i looks likes View org chart is no going to have a local library for creating organigram.

Can you please extend your module so that it have more feature like fieldable, using entityreference module relationships, relation module taxonomy hierarchy(core book module ), etc ... to create organigram ?

thanks

PatrickScheffer’s picture

"More feature like fieldable" sounds a bit vague to me, can you please describe more clearly what you want? And maybe it's better if you create a new feature request to keep things ordered.

delacosta456’s picture

OK PatrickScheffer

I will create a new Feature request to let you know

thanks
