I changed my git username and now would like to update the same on my d.o profile too.

I guess you mean you want to change your git username. It's your Drupal.org username that you changed. See the username that appears in this issue.

It's your Git username that is still Mwesome, the one you call old username, so it's your Git username that you want changed.

There isn't any way to change it from the user interface; if it can be done, it can be done from the database.

Git usernames are set permanently and can not be changed.
