The usage of the word "Type" as it refers to Animals in farmOS is confusing. Some people aren't sure what the intended difference between "Animal Group" and "Animal Type" is. I propose changing it to "Animal Species/Breed" so that it is more clear what it's for.

@NitinSP: I see that you assigned this to yourself. I actually have a working pass done on this already - I wanted to tell you before you put any time into it.

Issue #2719561: Rename "Type" to "Species/Breed"

Status: Active » Closed (fixed)

This is done in the 7.x-1.x development branch. I decided to simply change all the labels in the UI to "Species/Breed(s)", but I did not change the underlying machine names used (still "type"). I actually still like the idea of just calling it "type" in the background, and letting "Species/Breed" be more of the human-readable label.

Maybe I'll do the same thing with Crops in #2586841: Rename "Crop" to "Crop/Variety" (but in that case, it might make sense to change "crop" to "type" in the code for consistency).
