hi, the drupal search feature (http://drupal.org/search) has been downf or quite some time, otherwise i would have searched to see if this query was already asked.

here is my drupal site:

http://www.thebikehut.com/hut

i just installed the Garland theme and would like to make it three columns then customize the html/css to look like this:

http://www.thebikehut.com

i am an html/css expert and am open to learning php to customize this page. my question is, how does one know which pages in the "themes" folder correspond to the various spots on the site/page. there are so many pages in that folder that it is overwhelming. is there map somewhere on the site that outlines this information?

also, is it possible to change the garland theme to 3 columns?

thanks in advance for your time, support, and help! once i know what i am doing i will contribute and answer questions on the forum to give back.

Ric Shreves' "Drupal 5 Themes" book by Packt Publishing (see Amazon.com) is an excellent guide to understand the bowels of the theme engine. Very easy read and will answer your questions re. the file system, changing columns, etc.

However, if you're going to be a serious Drupal user, I'd also recommend "Pro Drupal Development" by John VanDyk and Matt Westgate by apress publishing to REALLY understand how Drupal CMS works.

Soon as SEARCH is back up, you'll also find lots of good info on this site. Good luck!

Hi, Thanks for the book recommendations, but I am a very poor (no income) student so I can't afford to purchase any books. I have to reply on existing documentation. Does the documentation break down how the various pages of a theme populate a page/site? I hope so...that would be most helpful. I looked through the documentation but did not find this info.

Pretty diagram: http://drupal.org/node/171194

Garland is 3 columns: just add blocks to the left and right regions

PS. if search is disabled, you can still click on the Documentation tab ;-)
