message modules sends unpublished group content

Using Message 7.x-1.11, Message Notify 7.x-2.5 and Message Subscribe 7.x-1.x-dev, the latter 2 with patches, I have a moderated group. Nodes are created unpublished, but Message Notify sends email without checking the status field.

I cannot find a place to modify that behavior. If I could turn off automatic sending I'd use Rules set to send upon publication. This is a major problem.
