My current site www.robives.com, is based on Drupal 6 - I need to upgrade to a newer version, probably D7
It is a membership site with payments for membership taken care of by MoneyScript module - originally a suite of paid modules but the maintainer has disappeared.
There is now a MoneySuite module compatible with moneyscripts which is being maintained by the Drupal community but is only on D7. If the info can be ported to some other payment system I'm happy to use that instead.
I've got about 12k users on the site and approx 1000+ pages mainly but not exclusivlly blog pages. There are also probably around 300 download products that I sell via the moneyscripts module.
I'm looking to make a new responsive site site on either D7 or D8 if possible, Please get in touch if you are able to help
Thanks!
Rob

It will be quite some time for most modules to catch up with D8 which was just released. And D7 will be supported until D9 is released which, given how long D8 took, could be a very very long time. Regardless, we're experts at both. Please give us a call (number/contact on SimpleInformation.com) and we'll be happy to give you a free analysis of your options. JR

Yes, I agree. Don't be too concerned about comments stating D7 is useless, lol.

Regardless of plan to migrate to D7 or D8 a very good first step is to make a spreadsheet of the modules in use on your D6 site. Add a column for ported status: ported, close replacement available, not available. Then go through and see where things are at for both D7 and D8. Even D7 may not have a replacement for some of your modules. The work involved in getting your required modules in place will be the majority of the cost associated with your migration (and 2nd will be migrating your content).

As I understand, there are 2 different issues here. First is the outdated Drupal version. Since, yours is an eCommerce website, your best option is to move to Drupal 7. Drupal 8 doesn't have any stable eCommerce modules. Whereas, there are plenty of eCommerce websites on Drupal 7. And, Drupal 7 is still going to be supported until Drupal 9 comes out, which is 4-5 years down the line.

And, second is the MoneyScript module. We have recently helped a client with similar issue. He was facing problems maintaining the module, so we migrated all the order history, user records from MoneyScript to Drupal Commerce. I can share the client's reference with you if you like. I think if you are looking to expand your business you'll have to move away from MoneyScript and use a much secure and trusted eCommece module like Drupal Commerce or Ubercart. Both of which are available in Drupal 7.

We have migrated over 30 websites from Drupal 6 to 7 since 2015. And, we can help you with the same. Let me know if you'd be interested. We should probably take this conversation further on a call.

And in 4=5 years face the same problem that SO MANY other CMS as Wordpress to not have: you will have to restart a new website from scratch every time a new Drupal version is launched and this is ridiculous.

People who keep doing Drupal in 2017 the same way they were doing it in 2007 are even more ridiculous.
