Support for Drupal 7 is ending on 5 January 2025—it’s time to migrate to Drupal 10! Learn about the many benefits of Drupal 10 and find migration tools in our resource center.
In the 7.x-1.x readme file, along with the general site instructions there is no mention that configuration more than likely will require configuration changes to admin/structure/block > specific theme name > modify as appropriate.
This hung me up and took a long time to figure out, you should explicitly mention this as part of the setup process.

mtiftWe do mention the blocks in the Adsense and DoubleClick sections. How about this for the theme config?

* Make sure to configure the blocks for the AMP theme you have selected
I know blocks are mentioned elsewhere, but since the original concern was about knowing to set up blocks for a theme, maybe this would help?
