Hi there

I had the workbench work nicely but then all of a sudden, my content/profile: empty view.

Admittedly things I might have gotten a little bit too eager to "repair things to pieces" but the only thing I seem to recall tinkering with prior to views/content vanishing was removing anonymous access to various areas on the installation. Being early stage of a pilot case didn't backup the db or structure prior to change either.

Checking permissions administrator has all rights so I gather something else must have gone wrong.

Does anyone have a simple procedure for restoring this function? Is uninstall/remove and install the fastest route back? Without having to install everything from scratch.

Without a backup there isn't much that can be done. You'll always run the risk of having other bugs crop up. You can try reverting Features to restore stuff like Views, but that won't help with restoring permissions. For that you could install a fresh site somewhere else and then do a side-by-side comparison. But hard to tell without really knowing what caused the original problem.
