At the time D6 became "unsupported", all direct download links disappeared.
This strange policy seems recent, as we could get D4 and D5 downloads available too before that date.
What happened?

I thought it was not so problematic as "View all releases" was still available.
But it is for all modules. for example, I need to access old versions of code for File Framework
https://www.drupal.org/project/fileframework an invaluable module that nothing replaced after D6.

But nothing is there!

I NEED THIS CODE - PLEASE NO KIDDING: KEEP ALL CODE from passed/unsupported modules AVAILABLE
This is madatory as Drupal does not care at all about backward compatibility: upgrade is just not possible because modules do not follow (most module are refractored without any compatibility concern when a new DX comes out)

Security is a very bad, unacceptable reason to risk breaking live businesses.
Just state that no one can be blamed in the community for pre-Drupal 7 problems.

I maintain a module which had D6 releases (Views Bulk Operations), and they're still visible on "All releases".
So it doesn't look like what happened to fileframework was done by drupal.org, maybe it was something the maintainer did?

D6 releases of File Framework are still available at https://www.drupal.org/node/248019/release?api_version%5B%5D=87

It's just the link that is removed from the project page, because the module is unsupported. (That probably doesn't make too much sense.) So the releases view still works. You can replace the NID in the URL with any other project's NID.

Normally even unsupported modules still have the "View all releases" link on the project page; see https://www.drupal.org/project/index for an example.

I think the reason it isn't showing for File Framework is that someone (maybe the maintainer?) edited the project and unchecked the "Has project releases" checkbox. Whatever the reason, though, it's definitely an unusual situation and not the case with the vast majority of other projects.

I saw this before some time ago and somehow assumed it was was because the project was unsupported. Thanks for clearing this up.

Thanks for your help.
This shows that D6 still gets some attention
