Managing the Display of the Node Add/Edit Form

If I am managing the display of a node, I can modify the format of a field by clicking the gear-wheel on the right and can then "Choose a field template," or "Choose additional css classes for the field."

I would like to be able to modify the format of a field in the node add/edit form in the same way. I need to add a class to a field and I need to add attributes to another field in order to layout and style a node form in a way that is appropriate for my authors.

I realize that in the node display, I'm modifying the format of the field contents, while in the node add/edit form I would be modifying the format of the form field element itself. Still...it would be nice.
