Problem/Motivation

MigrationCreationTrait manually calls checkRequirements() on the source and the destination rather than simply $migration->checkRequirements(). It can't currently call checkRequirements() on the migration because it fails to load the required migrations.

Proposed resolution

We should either a) resolve the root of that issue or b) document why we have to do this.

Drupal core is moving towards using a “main” branch. As an interim step, a new 11.x branch has been opened, as Drupal.org infrastructure cannot currently fully support a branch named main.
