New Message form does not validate with Adressees containing a comma

When attempting to send a message to a group, if the group name contains a comma then the form will not validate. Also there is not a useful error message but the To field is indicated in red. To avoid this inconvenient I opted to use the nid simlar to NodeReference field. This shows up on other sorts of autocomplete searches, so it's not a departure from the norm.
