Problem / Motivation
Sometimes we need to use youtube formatter (video player or thumbnail image) for fields of type link_field (Link module).
This may cause in many situations. For example:
- we need to have a user provided name (link title) for each youtube videos in multiple values field, so we need to use link field type (instead of youtube) that allow this;
- we already have a link field before YouTube Field module installation;
- we need to use different formatters across the site that provided by link module (title as link, field label as link or one other of dozen);
- etc
Solution
We need to extend youtube_thumbnail and youtube_video field formatters to allow using them for link_field field type.
Patch attached.

Tested on latest releases of Drupal 7 and Link module.

guschilds CreditAttribution: guschilds at Chromatic commentedThanks for the patch and for testing. As we try and keep the module as simple as possible, I have not yet decided if this will be committed, but I'll leave it as RTBC for anyone else that wants this feature. I'll reconsider committing it if there ends up being a lot of interest. Also moving the priority back to "Normal". Thanks again!
