i have created a component with a Provided value (a list of user entities defined in the component's settings) and added the component to a page via a Rules Panel. The page display shows details about the provided value which is not really any use to me and unwanted.
The actual pane display is as follows:

Provided variables Adjust the names and labels of provided variables, but note that renaming of already utilizied variables invalidates the existing uses.
mutual_friends
Variable label *variable_label
Variable name *variable_name

What I do want is the provided value (a list in this case) so i can work with it.

Please can you tell me the correct way of working with this so I can remove the unwanted variable info and work with the provided variable.

This was an unexpected issue for me. Sorry.

I would say this is a bug, caused by Panels (or Page manager) behaving differently from when I wrote the module.

(As noted on another issue I won't have any time to analyze or code. Very sorry. Thanks for reporting, though.)

i can always hide it with jquery. the bigger issue for me is using the output from the component in a meaningful way.
