I am using this module since... forever. But the Drupal 8 version has a terrible German translation (or maye none?) and should be reworked.

I was only able to figure out what tabs, tab are (In German Reiter/Tabulator), by checking the select options with firebug.

The problem is, that both options indicate a single tab.

I agree with you, that the German translation is misleading. But that's not a problem of this module, that is a problem of the German translation team. You should issue a correction of these terms to them.

I always work on admin pages with the English user interface to not be distracted from such translations. But that implies you have a multilingual site (at least English and German).

Btw: the correct translations should be: "Tabs": "Register", "Tab": "Reiter" (according to Wikipedia) or simply leave it "Tabs", "Tab".

Idd, the fieldgroup is not providing translations. Drupal core downloads translations when installing the module. The translation should be changed here: https://localize.drupal.org/translate/languages/de
