Calendar shows 8 hour difference from added Events

I recently installed the latest OpenChurch 8.x release and noticed the calendar is displaying my added events 8 hours in the future. My assumption is the calendar thinks I'm GMT even though I've set the date/time (configuration) to PST. How do I get the calendar module to sync with the site configuration changes I made (i.e. PST)?
