Steps to reproduce:

1) Enable the dev version of simple xml sitemap
2) Enable indexing on a content type (I.e. page)
3) Add new page

You will see the sitemap settings underneath the Title field. The xml settings should be the same area as the "menu settings" and "authoring information"

It should not have showed on a node edit page at all, as these settings are for entity types only. Thanks for reporting, commited above.
