I have the same issue. Can it be related to the fact that Drupal is installed in a subdirectory ?

Thanks

I am still having this problem with a freshly installed 8.0.3 on xampp.
How was it fixed?

Thanks

Please check that the Migrate Upgrade module is downloaded and installed on the Drupal 8 site.

M.Gies’s picture

No. In effect I missed that one and only had 'Migrate' and 'Migrate Drupal'. I wonder how I was going to know...must not have understand something... (a bit puzzled...)
Well, thanks a lot. I downloaded, installed and enabled it and: it WORKED.

@M.Gies, my apologies. I should have included more detail in my response. And most important, Welcome to Drupal.

The documentation has instructions for Upgrading from Drupal 6 or 7 to Drupal 8. The specific information about installing Migrate Upgrade is listed the Requirement section of Preparing an upgrade.

Another way to get support is to use IRC. The Drupal community has many channels, for migrate it is #drupal-migrate. Chat with the Drupal Community on IRC, has all the details.

I'm closing this since you've got it working now.

M.Gies’s picture

Right @quietone. I would have re-closed it myself.
I found the point in the document but thought they speak about the core modul already enabled. So, it was my mistake. Thanks again. Also for the welcome. I tried to connect to IRC on http://webchat.freenode.net/ but I cannot find a "register" button nor does my drupal nickname M.Gies work. Not even after I wrote in the IRC section of my Drupal profile. I always get "Erroneous Nickname"
what am I doing wrong?

quietone’s picture

@M.Gies, I'm not very fluent on things IRC. I did a web search and found instructions for registering in this Wikipedia tutorial. You can also get help from the friendly folk at the Freenode channel #irchelp. I just joined that channel, without having to register, using webchat. Please try that. They will be able to assist better than I can.

That helped a lot. I could even log in with a non registered nickname to #drupal-migrate :-)

This doesn't appear to be fixed. Happening to me in a fresh install of 8.0.5 with both the "Migrate" and "Migrate Drupal" modules enabled. There's no /upgrade path available.

@Puxapuak: Did you enable the migrate_upgrade (in the UI as "Drupal Upgrade") module?

Puxapuak’s picture

There is nothing in the UI that says "Drupal Upgrade". The only place in the module listing that the word Drupal appears is beside the two modules titled: "Migrate" and "Migrate Drupal". Here's a screenshot of what I see on Drupal 8.0.5

For Drupal 8.0.x you need to install the migrate_upgrade module (i.e., the module whose issue queue you are in right now) - see the project page. This UI will be in core Drupal with 8.1.x, but for 8.0.x it is still in contrib. See the documentation for full details.

So just to get this straight... there is the Migrate module, the Migrate Drupal module, and the Migrate/Drupal Upgrade module, and the first two are in core but don't do anything and the third one isn't in core but is the one that does something? Maybe someone should update the Upgrade Handbook to actually reflect this since that page only discusses the first two that don't work.

Edit: I installed that third module and got the /upgrade path finally, but unfortunately running the upgrade crashes with the error: "The website encountered an unexpected error. Please try again later."

Looks like I will have to transfer the content manually afterall.

Hello,
I hope someone can help me.
I have to upgrade from D6 to D8.
I have fresh installation of Drupal 8 on the same machine where is a copy of my Drupal6.
I read much article and documentation, but I can't go on.

As suggested in:
https://www.drupal.org/node/2350603:
...Keep in mind that the upgrade process will overwrite configuration on the Drupal 8 site, so do not do any configuration of the Drupal 8 site until after the upgrade process is complete....

I have Drupal 8.1.0.
I'm confusing on wich module I need:
In /core/modules I have:
-migrate
-migrate_drupal
-migrate_drupal_ui

I suppose that I need also:
-migrate_upgrade
-migrate_tools
-migrate_plus
is correct? if yes 'where' I have to put them? How I can enable them?

After I have read:
https://www.drupal.org/node/2257723:
...After installing the module, visit your Drupal 8 site's /upgrade page. When you do you will see this screen:....

So, how I can install/enable them?
because
//mysite/upgrade
give me a 'page not found'.

What I have to do?
Please help me,
thanks.

/L.

@lilithgood, Welcome to Drupal.

To enable modules navigate to 'admin/modules' or click 'Extend'. Contributed modules go in the 'modules' directory in the site Drupal root. Have a look at Installing modules and themes for more detailed information.

lilithgood’s picture

Hello,
thanks for your quick reply.
The prblem is that I don't have 'admin' folder.
Indeed, if I click on 'Extend', I have:

'Not Found
The requested URL /admin/modules was not found on this server.'

What's wrong?
I have installed 'drupal-8.1.0.tar.gz'.

/L.

UI went into core with 8.1.0. As long as you've enabled the Migrate Drupal UI module, and are logged in as the admin user (uid 1) the /upgrade page should be present. Any problems with this going forward should be logged against Drupal core.
