I am thinking of getting a cheap VPS for a video streaming website. I notice that on average, they offer like 10GB of storage space. That seems very little for a video site... do you have any suggestions on how to overcome this (without using zencoder). Maybe store the converted video files on a remote different server (but which one?).

Any suggestions are welcome.

You can choose a module like https://www.drupal.org/project/amazons3 and store all your videos on Amazon cloud. Please reopen if it is not going to fix your issue.
