I am working on a new charity website. It’s something I can do myself given time, but because we are a small charity my time is limited so I am seeking someone to help me by creating the front page layout and framework and 2/3 of the content page types of the website to get me started. I would be seeking someone to work with me to create something based of a specific look and feel I have seen on a few other charity websites.

The site would be need to be:

- Drupal 8
- Mobile first
- Responsive
- Slideshow on homepage featuring 4/5 news items - create an on/off switch within article pages to add to slideshow.
- Content pages to have different styles, I.e. full width or chapter side menu’s.
- Ability to create a Google Map with details of local support groups which can be clickable to a node (see example from our existing website - http://www.ocduk.org/support-groups)
- Drupel Commerce to be implemented within site
- EU cookies law acceptance

If you think you can create something along these lines please do get in touch if you need more information and with a price estimate, time frame and details.

Given your list of requirements, I would suggest Drupal 7 at this time.

I have to agree with Steve (nevets), D8 won't do what you want for at least a year if not two.

This further refines it to almost forcing you to use Commerce Kickstart, https://www.drupal.org/project/commerce_kickstart , otherwise you'll need to keep track of the 20+ patches (some to core) Commerce needs to function well.

Best,
Michael

Yes, D8 is the new cool shiny toy.. but first release was only a couple weeks ago. Typically new projects using latest Drupal major release are about 6-9 months after first release. For D8, due to much higher complexity and contrib module ramp up i would have normally agreed this should be more like 12-15 months; but as D8 release was about a year late; many contrib modules have already been ported.. so standard 6-9 months might be safe bet.

But the only true test is to check out D8 status of the modules you think you will need and of course all their addons and dependencies. I see a D8 rel for Commerce but no mention of it on project page. My guess would be this will be your critical path to doing this in D8.

Two things:
- Drupal Commerce is about more than just the Commerce module. there are dozens of add-ons, some of which may be necessary or highly desirable to make your Drupal Commerce site do what you want. I anticipate it will be months before all of the stuff you need is ready for D8, so while you may have a bare-bones D8 Commerce site as soon as it's released for D8, you will find yourself holding the bag for a LOT of functionality.
- try to avoid using a distribution (such as Kickstart) for production work if you can. I helped a friend out with a site that was built on Kickstart, and we wound up redoing a huge portion of it. Nothing wrong with Kickstart, but we just wanted things done in different ways. Distributions make that a real PITA.

In your shoes I'd build on D7, with the standard profile, and the many excellent Commerce modules already available.
