you could try www.smarty.net. But in all honesty, if you're doing this new I would recommend against it. Stick with a standard theme-- smarty is a dead end in drupal.

the link to the smarty module download works for me. Note, the project hasn't been updated in 8 years.
that said, you do have a choice, it's partly your job to utilize leadership skills and persuade your company that they aren't making a long term viable choice with either the template engine or Drupal (as smarty isn't likely to move forward as a template option in Drupal). Beyond that building anything in Drupal 6 now that its end of life has been announced could wind up a long term disaster.

yep... the module link itself works. it's the pre-packaged with smarty lib links (on the download.berlios.de domain) that don't work. The lib is still available on smarty.net.
And VM is quite right...just because someone points a gun at their head, doesn't mean you have to help them pull the trigger, lol. If it were me and this were a site I was supposed to be maintaining, I would object in the strongest possible terms. You may still end up having to do the wrong thing, but at least you will have educated them about the mistake they're making. You'll also end up avoiding having to explain why they can't use smarty when the move to d7 or beyond (d6 will be EOL very soon).
