Unable to set Current date as Views default argument - core issue
This is because of core issue #2325899: UI fatal caused by views argument handlers no longer can provide their own default argument handling
I am going to make a patch to bring in these changes in sub module calendar_datetime
For explanation of this module see #2615120: Purposed solution for dealing with Datetime functionality to be added to core in 8.1 and other point releases.

tedbowCommitted change.
Able to confirm that able to set default argument in views ui but not able to confirm default actually works because other bug hit related to #2610942: Fatal error thrown when adding a filter value in week view/day view
This seems to happen when argument has any value.
Marking this as fixed.
