Trying to install version 7.x-2.2 with the newest version of ckeditor 4.54 results in the dreaded "The version of CKEditor could not be detected". I found my way to this comment, so I tried install the 7.x-2.x-dev version, yet I still get the same error. So it appears that whatever fix was added to the dev version does not work with the current ckeditor version.

On top of this, I don't like using dev versions, so when this is fixed, it should be pushed to a new release, 7.x-2.3, rather than forcing users to use a dev version for the fix. Dev versions are supposed to be unstable - that's why they are dev versions and not full releases.

In the meantime, how can I get around this?

I take that back. I had two instances of the WYSIWYG module on my system, and version 7.x-2.2 was being picked up instead of the dev version. Switching to dev works.

That said, 7.x-2.3 should still be released with the fix in it.
