Fatal error: Call to undefined function file_info_file_types() in ... html/sites/all/modules/media/media.module on line 1085

Got this error and looked up solution. Solution said file_entity 7.x-2.0 is incompatible with media 7.x-1.x. SO, directions at https://www.drupal.org/node/2096859 said to delete file_entity, rebuild registry and flush cash. Tried to delete file_entity, but that would also delete media. So disabled both and rebuilt and flushed and tried to delete file_entity, but can't do that without deleting media. SO

I deleted everything and installed the beta version, hoping to get media working. Same thing. Installed file_entity and still doesn't work.

What do I do now?
