Thanks for your work in this! Tested with 8.1.9 and 8.2.2, and only thing I can see is that the "View any unpublished content" permission does not work. The permissions per type works as advertised, though.

I also see this bug is supposedly fixed in #2786109: Views filter doesn't respect "view any unpublished content" permission, but it's not pushed to dev yet.
