Drupal can't detect the API version correctly

Since last update of Entity API (to 7.16) Drupal update module ignores the installed version and shows it as 7.x-1.4 instead of 7.x-1.6 which is actually installed (entity.info consists a string version = "7.x-1.6"). That produces permanent update alert on admin pages.
Since then Drupal core has been updated twice. Other modules get updated as usual.
