Hacking contrib modules directly seems to go against everything I've ever been taught about how to Drupal. Those edits could be overwritten with any update to the module. Wouldn't it be better to direct users to use the options in the Advanced section?

I'd be happy to start working on a patch, but wanted to get thoughts first.
