Google Insights is suggesting:

If these are compressed with https://tinypng.com we can save 37% or 2 KB in total if we look at all of the images in this project.
The energy, bandwidth & time which is wasted (even little bit at a time) can be fixed pretty easily.
This likely won't have a huge impact on the performance of any individual site, but it's pretty huge when you look at the nearly 40k sites that are using it.
