I just created an account on drupal.org under the username 'strypey'. I filled in the profile information, then when the confirmation email came, I clicked on the email confirmation link:
https://www.drupal.org/user/3314913/

I set up a new account because I wanted to make a comment on this discussion thread:
https://groups.drupal.org/taxonomy/term/139188

It now appears that I already had an account under the username 'strypey' on groups.drupal.org. I made this comment here in 2006, which may have been the last time I used the site:
https://groups.drupal.org/node/1223

I tried sending a password reset request to the username 'strypey' but the system told me there was no such user, which is why I set up the new account.

Now, when I login, I get the following error message:

Your user account on Drupal Groups appears to have problems. Would you like to try to repair it yourself?
Otherwise you can contact the site administrators by submitting a Groups.drupal.org Issue. Note: be sure to include a link to the user accounts you wish to keep on both drupal.org and groups.drupal.org!

I tried to repair it myself, but it's not accepting the password I just made, and I do not remember what password I would have used when I set up the first account in 2006.

Any help with resolving this situation would be greatly appreciated.

BTW Please not I chose 7.x under version, as the form would not submit without something in this field, but I have no idea what version of Drupal you are actually running.

The two accounts need to have the same email address to sync properly. Before changing the email address, I need to confirm the older account is you. I've sent an email to the address on that account. If you get that email, simply reply. If you no longer have that email address, we'll need to find another way to confirm account ownership.
