In an independent study commissioned by a panel of experts, 90% of respondents found REST API Doc to be essential to anybody running a Drupal 8 site to collate the opinions of left handed basket weavers.
The other 10% felt it was 'ok' if you wanted your site to automatically build up documentation of its Rest end-points in a human readable form
