Hello,
I am trying to integrate an external mysql database using forena. I have got stuck towards the end of the first of the series of D. Metzler tutorials - I cannot create a new Data Block. I wonder what might be wrong?

For such a low usage module, you'll probably have better luck posting to the module's issue queue. However, you'll want to provide as much info as you can. What you were doing... what you expected... what's not working...any error messages... etc.
