There is also https://github.com/ueberbit/addressfield, which is a straight port for those that couldn't wait.
In the long term, I guess Address will be a better solution, but just in case anyone needs it *now*.

Address module is usable today. We are almost at beta and full test coverage, which is not something the GitHub port can say.

The new address module has many improvements, and is usable now. Changing this issue status to "needs review" to attract more testers. "Needs work" means not useable in Drupal Contrib Tracker.
